Get quality firewood from The Forest Firewood Company

WHICH FIREWOOD IS FOR ME?

Choosing the right firewood makes a real difference to the quality of your fire. All of our logs are kiln dried to below 20% moisture content, meaning whichever wood you choose, you'll get a cleaner, hotter, and more efficient burn. Here's a guide to the hardwoods we stock.

Which firewood is for me?

Birch

Birch

Birch is a true hardwood that lights easily and produces a bright, roaring flame with a very high heat output. It's ideal for those who want to light the fire for a few hours in the evening, and works brilliantly in pizza ovens and fire pits too. For a longer burn, mix birch with oak or ash — the combination gives you the best of both worlds.

Oak

Oak is one of the densest firewoods available, and that density is what makes it so special. It burns slowly and steadily, with an initial flame that settles into a long-lasting glow. Even as it reduces to embers, oak continues to radiate heat — making it perfect for keeping a room warm over a long evening. Mixed with birch, it makes an excellent combination for both flame and longevity.

Ash

Ash is a popular firewood — and for good reason. It's the wood most widely recommended by log burner and wood burning stove manufacturers, burning with a steady flame and consistent heat output that's hard to beat. It performs beautifully on its own, making it the ideal everyday firewood for heating your home. Slightly higher in price than oak, but many of our customers consider it the best all-round choice.
